MATTHEW LILLARD CRITICIZED THE INDUSTRY FOR PRIORITIZING CELEBRITIES OVER VOICE ACTORS IN ANIMATION:

One question has the internet arguing right now. Are animated movies hiring the best voice actors or just the biggest celebrities?

Matthew Lillard, the actor many people know as Shaggy, recently called out Hollywood for choosing celebrity names over professional voice actors. According to Lillard, carrying an entire animated movie with nothing but your voice is a skill that very few people truly have. He believes studios have become too focused on star power and not focused enough on finding the right voices for the job.

His comments quickly went viral and started a much bigger conversation online. A lot of fans agreed, pointing out that some of the most memorable animated characters were voiced by people who built their careers around voice acting, not by celebrities looking for their next movie role. Others argued that big names help sell tickets and bring more attention to animated films.

No matter where you stand, Matthew Lillard touched on a debate that’s been building for years. Should studios keep chasing celebrity names, or should they give more opportunities to the talented voice actors who have spent their entire careers mastering the craft? Right now, the internet is split right down the middle.
